2-28-08 (9 of 92) Swim/Bike

Today was 35 minutes on the bike and 18 minutes in the water.

I did dailies first (push ups, sit ups, pull ups, supermans, dips) x2

Then I biked for 35 minutes (11.2 miles) - I had a wicked cramp in my left calf around mile 9. It was kind of funny, because I nearly fell off of a stationary bike trying to get my foot off the pedal and stretch it out.

Then I swam, and had the beginning of a cramp in my right foot somewhere around lap 3 or 4. I did 30 laps in 18 minutes. Still trying to go slowly. I need to try my nose plug again, so I can start to modify my breathing style. I need to be exhaling under water and just breaking the surface to breath - this will keep my head down longer and make me a faster swimmer.

I also started looking at half marathon training guides for the post triathlon months.

Didn't run today - - home/time conflict.

2-26-08 Bike/Swim (7 of 92)

2 rounds of 'dailies' to start the evening off. Then I pedaled for 26 minutes (distinction: today, it was just pedaling, not cycling- all the stationary bikes were in use, and I had to use the reclined bikes, which I hate). The gym was extremely crowded today. I saw a lot of people, look in, shake their head, and just go home.
Then, I hit the pool. I was supposed to swim for 13 minutes, but I forgot my watch, so I just swam 25 laps.

All in all a pretty good day. Very tired after the workout. Still getting back in the nutritional groove, so I kind of ran out of gas towards the end of my swim.

2-25-08 Run day (6 of 92)

Failure on the schedule today. Had to work late - didn't even get back home until after 9pm.

2-24-08 Rest

No workout today.

2-23-08 Bike/Swim - Workout 5 of 92

I'm still recovering from a bad dietary experience - but today was MUCH better. While talking with Steph at lunch, she asked if I was going to swim then bike, or bike then swim. I'd intended to swim first (mostly out of habit), but then I realized I wouldn't be contending with the swim team for lane space today, so I decided to bike, then swim. Biking first would more closely simulate what I'd encounter in the race, anyway. I loved it. The pool felt very refreshing after all the saddle time.

The schedule called for 20 minutes of swimming, and 44 minutes of pedaling. I did the seat time first.

I covered 14.25 miles on the bike in 44 minutes - I figured this is somewhat skewed. I think most stationaries/ellipticals/treadmills overestimate distances a little.

Then I rinsed off in the shower quickly, so I didn't get in the pool all sweaty (ick). I set my watch for 20 minutes, but I didn't hear the alarm go off - I estimate that I was at about 30-35 laps when time expired. When I checked my watch and saw I was done with my time, I just rounded up to 40 laps.

I also did a quick set of push ups and sit ups before I got on the bike.

My stomach was still a little queasy, but it was better than it had been in a while.

2-22-08 - Workout 4 of 92 - fail

Didn't do my 16 minute run today. Some family took me out for my B-day last night and the Kung Pao Beef did BAD things to my insides. I've been sidelined all day. Haven't eaten and am pretty weak/worn - - the run (even as short as it was supposed to be) couldn't happen.
